The police said that Hunter was a passenger in a Honda Civic heading east on MacArthur. At the same time, a Nissan Quest minivan was going west on the same roadway. As the vehicle tried to make a left turn onto the southbound 98th Avenue, the first car struck it.

Hunter sustained severe wounds that she died from at the scene, while the driver of the Honda, identified as a 25-year-old woman, survived with severe injuries. The medics took the latter to the hospital, where she remains in critical but stable condition.

The Nissan driver, identified as a 20-year-old Oakland resident, also sustained injuries, and the medics took the person to the hospital in stable condition. The accident report also showed that no other vehicle or persons were involved in the crash.

The accident remains under the investigation of the Oakland Police Department. Anyone with helpful and concise information should contact the station on its listed line.
