Tressler at about 6 p.m. Tuesday was driving his pickup truck south on Cranberry Lake Road when he lost control of his vehicle near West Litchfield Road, sheriff’s department officials said. The truck went off the roadway and struck a tree, car accident reports stated.

Emergency medical personnel arrived on scene, but it became apparent Tressler was fatally wounded in the incident, according to authorities. Car accident reports did not say whether Tressler had passengers at the time of the wreck, but no additional injuries are listed.

The crash remains under investigation by the Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Department. Information released as of Wednesday evening provides few details about what factors, such is intoxication or speed, might have contributed to the crash.

Investigators were assisted by first responders from Reading and Litchfield Township, according to car accident reports.

More information likely will be released after deputies complete the inquiry into the incident. It wasn’t clear Wednesday whether an autopsy had been ordered.
