Authorities have identified the pedestrian who was involved in an auto-pedestrian collision as 37-year-old Velton Jermaine Johnson. The accident occurred just before 10 p.m. on March 16, along East 7th Street in Long Beach.

Based on the report released to the public, Johnson was trying to cross 7th Street when the first vehicle collided with him. The force from that collision sent Johnson into the other lane where a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee then hit him. The driver, a 61-year-old woman, stopped and dialed 911.
