On Saturday, January 25, 2020, a serious accident involving two passenger vehicles and a tractor-trailer occurred at approximately 11:14 AM on Ga. 15/U.S. This took place near Cathey Road in Rabun County.
Sgt. Coffee from Georgia State Patrol Post 7 in Toccoa reported the following.

Ronnie Wood, 68 years old from Townville S.C., was in the left lane heading south on Ga. 15. He was driving a 2007 Volvo tractor-trailer. He was following a vehicle driven by Tommy Clark Beasley, age 82, who was driving a 2016 Toyota RAV4. Tommy is from Franklin N.C.
Mr. Beasley slowed his Toyota down to make a left turn and was rear-ended by the tractor-trailer. The Toyota pivoted clockwise and struck a 2020 Toyota Corolla. This was being driven by 30-year-old Rashad Kirksey, who is from Canton, Ohio. At the time of being hit, Kirksey was traveling in the left lane Northbound on Ga. 15.
Beasley’s Toyota ended up facing N.W. in the left Northbound lane. Kirksey’s vehicle ends up against the east should guardrail facing Northeast.
Mr. Beasley sustained injuries requiring him to be taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville via ambulance. Mr. Kirksey was also injured and taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
78-year-old Jo Ann Beasley from Franklin N.C. was a passenger in Mr. Beasley’s vehicle, and she sustained serious injuries and had to be extricated from the vehicle. AirLife Georgia transported her to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Wood, the driver of the tractor trailer, was not injured.
According to Sgt. Coffee, the driver of the vehicle one was following too closely when he rear-ended vehicle two. Charges are pending.
