Jackson-Pool will need to obtain the services of a car injury attorney to represent her during court proceedings.
Jackson-Pool at about 8:30 pm. Thursday was driving westbound on Agnes Street in Detroit when she sped through a stop sign at the intersection with Field Street, police said. Her vehicle reportedly collided with a second vehicle that was traveling on Field Street.
The collision sent both vehicles off the roadway and caused Jackson-Pool’s vehicle to roll over on its side, according to police.
Police said Jackson-Pool’s three children were in the vehicle at the time of the crash. The two youngest – a 2-year-old and a 3-year-old – died as a result of injuries suffered in the crash, and a 5-year-old girl suffered serious injuries, authorities said. Prosecutors allege that none of the children were properly restrained.
The two occupants of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries, as did Jackson-Pool and a 19-year-old woman who was a passenger in her car, police said. None of the others involved in the wreck were identified publicly by authorities.
On Saturday, prosecutors charged Jackson-Pool with three counts of second-degree child abuse, two counts of reckless driving causing death, two counts of driving with a suspended license driving death, two counts of reckless driving causing serious injuries and two counts of driving with a suspended license causing serious injury.
