The young driver, for unknown reasons, lost control of the ORV while going over a berm at high speed. The latter caused the vehicle to flip and eject both men before coming to rest on its roof. Suarez and Schultz sustained minor injuries with no broken bones.
The medics took the two to Dickinson Memorial Hospital, where they received treatment. The two men were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, and the police believe that drugs or alcohol did not play a role.
Off-road vehicles are automobiles designed to drive on non-paved roads and navigate uneven roadways efficiently, irrespective of the weather conditions. Like ATVs, they are intended primarily for rural roads and share the same safety tips.
Accident reports have shown that inadequate knowledge on how to operate ORV’s leads to crashes. Thus, drivers must acquaint themselves with the safety and driving manual of the vehicle. They should ride solely on the appropriate OTV size for them and have on protective off-road gear at all times.
