The 42-year-old Garcia, from Houston, was driving the Ford, while Brown, 24, from Kirbyville, drove the Dodge. Sergeant Davis further revealed that Brown was driving at high speed and failed to control it. This made him rear-end the Ford pickup truck, causing it to flip over.
Emergency response crews rushed to the scene following distress calls. They arrived shortly before 8:00 p.m. and found one of the vehicles turned upside down. Both drivers were unhurt from the crash. However, Brown was issued a traffic citation for failing to control speed while driving.
Patrol officers warn drivers against the use of excessive speed while driving, given the danger it poses. Excessive speeding is a major cause of reported fatalities and it has also led to loss of limbs.
Authorities have given drivers some tips to avoid speeding. The tips include the three-second rule, which involves keeping a safe distance between a driver and the vehicle in front of him or her.
Drivers must also ensure that they leave earlier if they want to get to a destination in time to avoid rushing and speeding to meet up. Patrol officers also urge motorists to be patient while driving, because, according to accident reports, some accidents are caused when drivers become impatient while on the roadway.
