The Texas Department of Public Safety on Tuesday, May 5th, revealed fresh details about a crash that occurred between Buna and Evadale, killing Robert Solly. According to accident reports, the collision involved the deceased and another driver, Moriel Williams.
The accident occurred on Friday, May 1st. According to Sergeant Stephanie Davis of the DPS, the deceased, who was aged 76, died two days after the crash on Sunday, May 3rd, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, located in Beaumont. Moriel, who was also injured in the crash, was treated in the same hospital as Solly and released later.

Investigations into the crash revealed that Solly was driving a 2002 Buick Century on County Road 784 when he pulled out onto Highway 96. He drove his vehicle into the path of a 2020 Cadillac traveling north. The 37-year-old Moriel, from Shreveport, Louisiana, was driving the Cadillac.
The two vehicles collided, with the front of the Cadillac hitting the driver’s side of the Buick Century. The impact of the collision left Solly with severe wounds, with Moriel also sustaining injuries.
Eyewitnesses called emergency rescue officers who arrived at the scene immediately and attended to the crash victims. There is no additional information.
