Reports indicate that Williams was driving west on Farm-to-Market Road 850 in a 2011 Dodge Durango at or around 4 a.m. on Monday. The weather was described as “inclement” at the time of his accident.

The accident occurred about 2 miles west of Overton when for unknown reasons Williams left the road on the north side. He struck a culvert and overturned the vehicle.

When the weather plays a role in our daily driving it is important to understand a few things. If there is snow, ice, or heavy rains, these can cause the tires to disconnect from the road. When tires lose connection with the road the vehicle can end up sliding or hydroplaning.

It is also possible that speed could have played a significant factor in the accident. When driving in inclement weather, you should slow down and take your time. Being in too big of a hurry can cause problems when trying to slow down the vehicle when there is not enough traction to allow it.

There was no indication that Williams was wearing a seat belt in the report. If he was not, that could have created substantial injuries to his body and head. The seat belt can help stop someone from going through the windshield of their car if the impact is bad enough.

At the scene of the accident, Judge Meredith pronounced Williams dead. His body was then transported to the Lighthouse Mortuary Funeral Home.
