The ISP said that the victim lost control of his vehicle due to heavy rainfall, and he went through the center median into the westbound lanes. The car spun and faced west, placing Whalen directly in front of the semi, and the bigger vehicle slammed into him from behind.
The man sustained non-life-threatening injuries, and medics conveyed him to an area hospital. The semi driver appeared uninjured and declined medical treatment.
Adverse weather conditions like rain, snow, or fog are some of the causes of road accidents. Drivers who wish to operate a motor vehicle during torrential downpour must exercise caution, drive within the speed limit not going too fast or too slow, and avoid standing water on the roadway.
To prevent accidents, drive in the tracks of the vehicle in front, increase following distance, and if the car starts hydroplaning, don’t apply brakes or turn the wheel abruptly to avoid the car skidding or spinning. Use tires fit for rainy weather when driving at dusk or dawn turn on headlights.
