The incident occurred on Pines Road in Spokane Valley. The driver, 48-year-old Denia Correa, failed to yield at the intersection of Pine Avenue and Olive Avenue. Davis was quickly transported to the local Providence Sacred Heart Hospital with unspecified personal injuries. It is not entirely clear yet if Correa will be cited or charged for his role in the incident.

Officials at the Washington State Patrol are currently investigating the auto-pedestrian accident.

SERIOUS AUTO-PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

According to initial reports, Ms. Correa appears to be clearly at fault in the case, as she failed to yield to Mr. Davis, who happened to be in the crosswalk.

It is always the duty of drivers to yield to pedestrians.

According to the Legal Advocate:

According to the National Safety Council, 15 percent of all automobile crashes are caused by motorists who fail to yield to traffic on the road. These types of collisions are the second-leading causes of automobile accident fatalities in this country. This tragic accident underscores the dangers that pedestrians face in the U.S. every day.

Approximately 6,227 pedestrians were killed in the U.S. in 2018, an increase of 250 from a year earlier, according to the Governors Highway Safety Association. Pedestrian fatalities in the U.S. have increased 41 percent since 2008 and now account for 16 percent of all traffic fatalities.

WASHINGTON PERSONAL INJURY LAWYERS

Awaiting an official investigation, the loved ones of Ronald Davis could be entitled to a wrongful death claim. Family members of injury or wrongful death victims might pursue damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress after a horrible or tragic incident such as this terrible accident.
