The vehicle veered to the right side of the road and rolled to its side. The crash led to the lane closure for about six hours while the investigators gathered evidence and cleared the scene. They reopened the roadway at about 5:15 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20th, and did not issue Karpov a citation.
Single-vehicle crashes occur for several reasons ranging from driver’s carelessness, manufacturer’s defect, to unforeseen circumstances on the road. While most accidents end fatally, motorists sometimes sustain injuries, and at other times, they go unscathed.
Traffic officials in trying to increase the non-fatality record advise drivers to obey traffic laws and follow safety tips. The latter includes obeying all speed limits, paying attention to the road, not driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and always wearing a seat belt.
Others are properly maintaining the car, avoiding unsafe lane changes, tailgating, wrong-way driving, and turning on the headlights when driving at night or dawn. When there’s a crash, make an accident report immediately to enable first responders to arrive on time and provide medical help to those who need it.
