Millan is responsible for the death of 84-year-old, Yasmeen Shaheen, and injuring two others. With the guilty plea, she is facing eight years and eight months imprisonment, according to Deputy District Attorney David Uyar.
The woman will serve her sentence in state prison, and her sentencing has been fixed for April 2nd. The crash Millan is responsible for occurred on August 3rd, 2019, at about 4 p.m. on Valley Center Road between Vesper and Cole Grade roads.
A report by the California Highway Patrol at the time stated that the woman was trying to pass a vehicle on the roadway when she crashed head-on into an oncoming Toyota Corolla.
Shaheen, who was a passenger in the back seat of the Toyota, sustained severe injuries and died on the way to the hospital. The driver of the vehicle and the front seat passenger were also significantly injured but survived.
A test by the authorities confirmed that Millan was under the influence. She has been in police custody since and will remain there until her sentencing.
California traffic law provides that a person who is trying to pass another on the road exercise due care and caution to prevent accidents. Drivers should ensure they overtake on the right lanes and do so only when there is sufficient clearance.
