The act placed him directly in front of an oncoming Hyundai Sonata, and they collided. Millican passed away at the scene, while medics conveyed two people to the hospital to treat severe injuries. The CHP did not release any additional information, and the investigation remains active.
When a car accident occurs, it could either result in a criminal or civil lawsuit or both depending on the events leading to it. Before and after a collision, the conduct of a person determines the kind of charges he or she would face for a criminal trial and the claims made against the person for a civil action.
If the person drove while intoxicated, then he or she would face a DUI charge. If the driver leaves the crash site without reporting the accident or rendering help to an injured person, they will face a hit-and-and run charge.
If the victim dies, then the person would answer to a vehicular manslaughter charge. For a civil lawsuit, it is a wrongful death or personal injury claim, depending on whether the victim died or survived.
