Both women were taken to the hospital for their injuries. Sadly, Bare nor her unborn child survived the injuries sustained in the accidents. Her mother is currently still in the hospital receiving medical treatment and is expected to undergo another surgery on February 3.
The family of Bustillos state that he had been coming home from coaching a boys’ soccer team. His mother described him as a caring and loving husband and father. The family is unsure as to why he would have gone the wrong way in the first place.
Video of the accident that was reviewed confirm that it was Bustillo’s vehicle that hit Bare and her mother head-on. According to the video, there was not enough time for Bare to react to the oncoming car.
The police are still investigating the accident to try and figure out why Bustillos’ car entered the wrong lane. There were no obvious signs of alcohol usage in the car. They are not sure if it was a medical emergency or if there was something else distracting Bustillos. They are hoping to single out a cause and bring peace of mind to those involved.
