La Barrie was traveling in a car driven by Silva when he suffered fatal injuries. May 10 was his birthday.
The parents are also suing Silva’s company Daniel Silva Tattoos.
La Barrie and Burton allege that Silva was driving at unsafe speeds and he failed to use reasonable care while driving their son.
The lawsuit also claims that the driver was under the influence of alcohol and/or other intoxicants provided by his tattoo company.
La Barrie’s parents are reportedly asking for compensatory damages, suit-related costs, pre-judgment and post-judgment interest and fair and equitable relief.
The accident at the center of the matter occurred a little after 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Hutson Street and Carpenter Avenue.
The Los Angeles Police Department revealed that Silva was heading east on Huston Street in a 2020 McLaren 600LT when he lost control of the vehicle.
He ran off the road and struck a stop sign and a tree.
The authorities said Silva then exited the vehicle and attempted to leave the scene of the crash. However, he was stopped by people who came to render assistance.
La Barrie passed away in hospital.
Silva has been charged with murder and he entered a not guilty plea on May 20. His preliminary hearing is down for June 30.
