The driver who allegedly hit her has been identified as 53-year-old Brookhaven resident Patricia Warrington Long.
She was arrested and is now facing multiple charges.
Police say Pevzner was walking along the sidewalk when she was struck.
Long reportedly pulled out of the Atler at Brookhaven Apartments and drove on the sidewalk.
After she hit the elderly woman, she fled the scene without stopping.
However, eyewitnesses were able to provide a description of both Long and the Toyota Camry she was driving.
She was taken into custody a short time after the accident.
Her charges include driving under the influence of alcohol, felony hit-and-run, causing serious injury by vehicle, and driving as a habitual violator.
Long is also accused of failing to maintain her lane, obstructing a police officer, and driving with a suspended or revoked driver’s license.
This is not the first time she has faced DUI charges.
Long was booked into DeKalb County Jail, according to accident reports.
If she is convicted, she could spend several years in prison.
Felony hit-and-run carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison while serious injury by vehicle is punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
Pevzner’s injuries were not thought to be life-threatening. She may have grounds to seek compensation with help from a car accident lawyer.
The crash remains under investigation.
