According to the California Highway Patrol, Woods of Victorville was driving a 2020 Toyota Camry heading west on the freeway. For unknown reasons, the woman stopped suddenly, and a Hino box truck coming from behind rear-ended her.
The investigators said that the unnamed driver of the truck was unable to avoid the collision. Woods sustained severe wounds, and the medics took her to Riverside Community Hospital, where she passed away while undergoing treatment.
A passenger in the Toyota, identified as Marcus Reeves, 27, sustained moderate injuries, and the medics took him to Orange County Global Medical Center for treatment. The truck driver went away unscathed.
The CHP added that the collision led to the closure of the freeway for several hours while they conducted their preliminary findings and cleared debris from the road. There is no additional information at this time, and the investigation remains active.
