The Harbor Police Department revealed that 30-year-old Brent Sturgeon lost his life in a traffic collision involving two vehicles and a light pole. The accident happened on Wednesday, August 19th, in San Diego, California.
According to the car accident reports, the two vehicles collided at about 10:30 a.m. on the west travel lanes of North Harbor Drive, near Laurel Street. It began when a blue sedan driven by Sturgeon, a Spring Valley resident, attempted to drive past a pickup truck just outside the San Diego Sector facility of the U.S. Coast Guard.

The sedan, however, sideswiped the pickup truck due to their proximity. The impact caused the blue car to swerve sideways, over a raised median and collide head-on with a concrete pole. The light pole broke off in its midsection, depositing its debris on the blue sedan.
Sturgeon remained trapped inside his vehicle until passersby rescued him and tried administering CPR. He gave in to his injuries before paramedics could convey him to a hospital. Meanwhile, the operator of the truck went unscathed. The Harbor Police officers interrogated the truck driver before dismissing him.
Following the crash, Harbor Police closed down parts of North Harbor Drive leading to the San Diego International Airport for three hours. Investigators are yet to establish the cause of the traffic accident.
Motorists plying busy roadways should avoid attempts to overtake other vehicles at high speed, especially when in close quarters. This measure ensures the safety of themselves and other motorists.
