One person died on Wednesday, April 19, after a vehicle he was driving left the roadway and crashed in Brimfield, Illinois. The Peoria County Sheriff’s Office named the victim as Aaron Miller, a 16-year-old boy from Brimfield.

The car accident reports revealed that Miller was driving a vehicle that drifted off the roadway and caught fire. Following the 9:15 p.m. crash, the Peoria County Sheriff’s deputies, the Brimfield Fire Department, and the Illinois State Police arrived at the location to commence emergency rescue operations.

They found the wrecked vehicle still in flames, and fire department personnel put out the fire. Miller, who was the only occupant of the car, was unresponsive when the response crews found him. The Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood pronounced the teenager dead at the scene at precisely 10:30 p.m.

Autopsy reports provided by the medical examiner affirmed that Miller died from blunt force trauma injuries suffered during impact. The fire in the vehicle did not contribute to his death. The accident occurred near the intersection of U.S. Highway 150 and Thousand Dollar Road, the PCSO reported.

Pending toxicology reports would confirm whether Miller was under the influence of drugs or alcohol when the crash happened. Additional details concerning the crash are pending the results of the investigation.

A good percentage of accidents that occur on roadways are avoidable by simply abiding by traffic safety regulations. Common traffic safety practices like not drinking while driving, obeying traffic signals, maintaining the speed limit, and paying attention to the surroundings while driving can help curb the recurrence of such incidents.
