The driver was southbound on SR-33 when he struck a motorcycle ridden by Figueroa, heading in the same direction. The victim was traveling with another motorcyclist identified as Hector Romero-Guiterrez, and there was a third biker who remains unidentified. They were riding two Ducatis and a Yamaha motorcycle.
The impact of the crash sent Figueroa into the traffic lanes and caused him to collide with the two other motorcycles. He suffered fatal wounds while Romero-Guiterrez and the other rider sustained minor injuries. The paramedics treated the injured two and pronounced the victim dead.
Stewart appeared to have escaped unscathed from the crash, and for now, he has not received a citation. The investigation into the accident is ongoing, and there’s currently no additional information.
Auto-motorcycle collisions are more fatal for motorcycle riders than operators of a motor vehicle. Motorcyclists should protect themselves with safety helmets with covering for the face and eye and protective apparel.
