An update to a five-month-old accident report from San Mateo County, California, revealed the identity of a woman who died in the crash. The authorities on Wednesday, April 29th, released the deceased’s name as Tracey Ivori Sinclair, of San Francisco.
The identification comes five months after a video of the woman driving off a cliff south of Gray Whale Cove in San Mateo, surfaced. The California Highway Patrol said the investigation of the accident dates back to December 30th, 2019.

At the time, a passing driver used a dash-camera to record Sinclair, as she raced along the right shoulder of Highway 1 in a dark green 2007 Lexus SUV. The woman then drove up an embankment, went airborne briefly, and ended up plunging into the ocean.
After the report came in, the authorities searched the area but could not find a trace of Sinclair or her vehicle. The CHP added that although the lack of evidence seemed discouraging, officers were determined to find a solution to the mystery, and bring closure to the victim’s family.
Their resolution paid off a few months later as human remains, and the deceased’s driver’s license turned up at nearby Montara State Beach. The accident report also showed that the authorities used the driver’s information to confirm that the Lexus belonged to Sinclair.
They found her details in the California Department of Transportation database. Next, the San Mateo County Coroner’s Office found a DNA match, and the investigators used a missing person’s report filed by the victim’s family to complete the identification.
The CHP expressed its heartfelt condolences to the woman’s family and thanked the public for their support and assistance. They also acknowledged the efforts of allied agencies who contributed to the investigation.
