The man was stuck in the vehicle for the one hour it took first responders to arrive at the scene. When they got to him, Wallace was still responsive and alert, and the medics transported him to Jasper Memorial Hospital for treatment of his wounds.
The DPS said that the man was most likely traveling at an unsafe speed, which caused the truck to rollover. They are still investigating the crash and have not provided additional information at this time.
Rollover accidents are one of the vehicular crashes that occur on roadways. There are three common causes of rollovers, namely, lack of control by the driver, risky maneuvers, and multi-vehicle crashes.
Accident reports show that drivers lose control of their vehicles when they get drowsy behind the wheel, are distracted, over speeding, or strike dirt or curb on the roadway. Drivers trying to avoid animals and pedestrians that suddenly appear on the road can also lose control.
Risky maneuvers involve taking a turn or trying to overtake while swerving at high speed. Multiple-vehicles crashes start with a collision between two vehicles, with one or two of them going on to strike others.
