The police said that at about 2:51 p.m., Cruz ran a red light at the road’s intersection with the freeway overpass and slammed into the driver’s side of the Jeep. The collision’s impact caused the car to roll into the westbound lane of Rancho, and the suspect’s pickup sustained significant front-end damage.
County fire department officials and paramedics arrived at the scene and extricated the unnamed driver of the Jeep from its wreckage. The medics rushed the significantly injured man to a nearby hospital, and they have not released the name or the condition of the victim.
Cruz abandoned his car at the intersection and fled on foot. The RCSD then released his description as a Hispanic male, 5 feet 7 inches tall, and 130 pounds with brown hair and eyes. There is currently no information on the suspect’s bail.
