A 13-year-old girl was struck by a vehicle in west Phoenix on Monday, February 17th. The accident took place at the corner of 75th Avenue and Osborn Road. The driver of the vehicle was a 70-year-old man.
The vehicle in question was a pickup truck. The man who was driving the truck did not drive away following the accident. He remained at the scene and spoke with the police. Apparently, the girl stepped out into the road, and did not see the truck coming.

The girl sustained life-threatening injuries. However, she survived the accident. At this time, she is still in critical condition. It is not known how severe her injuries were. The man was not injured in the accident. The man has not been given any criminal charges. It appears that the accident was caused by an error in judgement when crossing the street by the 13-year-old girl.
However, police are still investigating the accident to get to the bottom of it. Following the accident, the road was closed so that police could investigate the scene. Rescue workers transported the girl to the hospital immediately following the accident.
The intersection was reopened several hours after the accident took place. Traffic is flowing normally on the two streets again.
