A peaceful protest in California’s Yorba Linda area ended with two people getting hospitalized and a female driver facing criminal charges. Tatiana Turner, 40, of Long Beach allegedly drove her car into a group of Black Lives Matter protesters and counter-demonstrators on Saturday, September 26th.
The incident took place on Imperial Highway, with the protest starting at about 2 p.m. Sgt. Dennis Breckner said that at about 2:40 p.m., the Orange County Sheriff’s Department declared the demonstration unlawful and asked the participants to leave the area.

OCSD PIO Carrie Braun said that Turner exited the Yorba Linda Public Library parking lot and drove her compact car through the intersection. The suspect, who is believed to be a member of the Caravan of Justice, struck a man and a woman.
The man suffered two broken legs while the woman sustained unspecified but significant injuries. Medics transported the victims to the hospital for treatment, and there’s no update on their condition at this time.
Deputies with the sheriff’s office arrested Turner on suspicion of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. They remanded her in the Orange County Jail on a $1 million bail bond. She is due in court on Tuesday, September 29th, and would need a top accident lawyer.
Attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon are severe offenses under the California Penal Code. A guilty verdict means that the defendant would spend time in state prison, and the court may order additional punishments.
