The investigators said that the Costa Mesa Fire-Rescue officials alongside paramedics extricated one person from one of the cars wrecked in the collision. Three people, including a minor, suffered injuries, and the medics took them and the suspect to a nearby trauma center for treatment.
The police determined that Rabago drove under the influence and placed him under arrest on suspicion of DUI. They closed the affected traffic lanes while they collected evidence and cleared debris from the road. The accident remains under investigation, and there’s no additional information at this time.
A person drives under the influence when he or she operates a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Under the California Vehicle Code, it is a severe offense, and offenders are liable to spend time in jail, pay a fine, have their driving privileges revoked, and attend a compulsory alcohol rehabilitation program amid other punishments.
