The California Highway Patrol responded to a multi-vehicle accident around 7:20 p.m. on March 22. The accident occurred in Lynwood in the westbound lanes of the 105 Freeway near Long Beach Boulevard.
At this time, the California Highway Patrol has no leads to why the pile-up accident occurred. All they know is that the accident involved several vehicles and one fatality.

March 24, the coroner’s office, along with the California Highway Patrol released the name of the single fatality in the accident. 22-year-old Jacob Gutierrez was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
It was not specified if there were any other injuries as a result of the accident in their reports.
The westbound lanes were closed off during the investigation and accident reconstruction efforts. Traffic was diverted off of Long Beach Boulevard for a short period. After the area was cleared, traffic resumed as usual.
The California Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident. They have remained tight-lipped on most aspects of the accident.
Based on family accounts on social media, an initial hit and run accident occurred, and a car fled the scene. Family members went to help the girl and her disabled vehicle, but another hydroplaning accident occurred. This accident caused injury to two other men who were rushed to surgery at St. Francis Hospital.
The family is calling upon anyone who may know the identity of the driver of the white Chevy Impala that started this chain of events to contact the California Highway Patrol.
