The chase, which began in the 3000 block of South Bristol, continued to Bolsa and Brookhurst. While fleeing lawmen, Callahan jumped several red lights and broke multiple traffic rules. As the man ran another red light at the intersection of Brookhurst and Balso in Westminster, his vehicle collided with another.
Upon impact, Scott Callahan abandoned his car and attempted to flee the scene on foot. Santa Ana officers caught up with the suspect a short time later and took him into custody on several felony charges.
They include driving the wrong way, leading police on a chase, reckless driving while evading police, and failing to stop at an injury accident. Additionally, he faces one misdemeanor count of driving while license suspended.
Meanwhile, the 47-year-old female operator of the struck vehicle sustained injuries of unspecified nature. Paramedics conveyed her to a local hospital for urgent medical attention. Her condition at this time remains undisclosed.
After pleading guilty to the felony charges during the Friday hearing, the court ordered Callahan to make another appearance on August 31st for a pretrial hearing. Stemming from his charges, he would require the services of an experienced car accident lawyer.
