In California, driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol is one of the most frequently charged criminal offenses. Under the Cal-Vehicle Code Section 23152 VC, it is illegal to drive while intoxicated. Offending drivers would face criminal penalties in court as well as an administrative driver’s license suspension.
The legal blood alcohol concentration (BAC) in California is .08%, and anyone driving at that number or above is liable for a DUI charge. Drivers below 21 and those who are already on DUI probation cannot drive with a measurable amount of alcohol in their system. Thus, motorists should avoid drinking and driving, and if impaired, seek an alternative means of transportation.
