Industrial accidents are not uncommon in the workplace, and numerous factors contribute to them from exertion to the mishandling of hazardous materials. Factors contributing to this type of occurrence are sprains, strain, or tear caused by lifting heavy metals, fatigue, and dehydration.
Poor lighting, improper handling of hazardous materials, violence among co-workers, trips, falls, and stress, also contributes. Others are improperly guarded equipment, defective equipment, unsafe storage, overloading, and inadequate safety devices.
Industrial accidents are preventable by incorporating a safety and wellness plan, conducting pre-placement physicals, and educating employees and management staff on the importance of following safety measures. Research safety vulnerabilities and provide protective equipment.
The latter covers goggles, face protection, gloves, hard hats, safety shoes, and earplugs or earmuffs. Have adequate staffing levels, don’t take shortcuts, inspect and maintain all company vehicles, monitor safety measures, and keep an orderly workplace.
