An accident report from Oldham County, Texas, tells of the tragic death of two people in a rear-end collision. The Texas Department of Public Safety identified the victims of the Tuesday, May 5th, accident as Hayden Stout, 22, of Springfield, Illinois, and Tavin Benton, 21, of Fullerton, California.
The DPS, in its preliminary report, placed the time of the accident at about 11:55 a.m. Investigators said that a semi-truck was heading west on Interstate 40, and a car was driving behind the semi. The smaller vehicle was going at top speed and failed to control it.

The car ended up rear-ending the semi-truck, and the impact caused its three occupants to get ejected onto the roadway. The vehicle then rested on the road before getting engulfed in flames. Stout and Benton sustained severe wounds that they passed away from at the accident scene.
The driver of the vehicle, who remains unidentified, sustained significant wounds, and the authorities airlifted the person to University Medical Center in Lubbock. The driver’s condition is unknown at this time. The motorist behind the wheel of the semi did not sustain any injury.
The DPS also said in the accident report that Stout, Benton, and the unnamed driver were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. The investigation is ongoing, and there is no additional information at this time.
