Three professional Frisbee players have died after they were involved in a wreck Saturday night in Ionia County, officials confirmed Tuesday.
Michigan State Police said Kevin Coulter, Michael Cannon and Drew Piet were in a vehicle that was rear-ended Saturday evening on U.S. 96 about 100 miles west of Detroit. Both Cannon and Piet had been on life support until their organs could be donated, police said.

Authorities said inattention and speed likely contributed to the crash. Police said the men’s vehicle was struck from behind by a 34-year-old Detroit man, whose name has not been released by police, who failed to slow down to match the speed of traffic.
The men were members of the American Ultimate Disc League’s Detroit Mechanix. Authorities said the three were traveling to participate in a practice session when the crash occurred.
In a statement, members of the board of directors for Grand Rapids Ultimate – an organization to which Coulter and Piet belonged – expressed condolences.
“As a community we are still in shock at the unfair passing of these remarkable individuals, and would like to offer as much help and support as we can to the families and players that have been (affected) by this terrible tragedy,” board members wrote in the statement.
