The collision which occurred at about 6 p.m. killed a 49-year-old man, Robert Boren, of Suwanee. The police preliminary accident report showed that the deceased was traveling straight when Merizalde crashed into him.
The suspect, who was driving a Honda Accord, was trying to make a left turn when she hit Boren. The man was traveling on a motorcycle, and he was thrown off it by the impact of the collision.
Merizalde, and a passenger traveling with her were unhurt, but the motorcyclist died from his injuries. Police impounded both the car the young woman was driving and the deceased’s motorcycle pending investigation.
Pihera said that the suspect has not been arrested, because she wants to turn herself in. The police will provide more updates as events unfold.
Accidents are not uncommon among young drivers. Statistics have shown that those aged between 16 and 19 years are more prone to have accidents. The latter boils down to their inexperience, reckless and distracted driving.
Anyone involved in an accident should contact a top accident attorney for legal advice and representation if charged, or willing to sue.
