The preliminary investigation by the sheriff’s deputies uncovered that Eric was driving a grey 2009 Lincoln MKS when he suddenly left the roadway. The vehicle crashed into a pole on private property, and the impact killed Melissa, the front-seat passenger.
The driver sustained severe wounds while Ava had moderate injuries. The medics airlifted the two to an undisclosed hospital for treatment. The suspect’s condition is unknown at this time, but the doctors expect the little girl to make a full recovery.
Sgt Cheng, with the sheriff’s office, said the child was properly restrained with a seat belt during the crash, which saved her life. A witness to the crash also contributed by providing first aid while waiting for the first responders to arrive.
The HCSO said that Eric displayed signs of impairment at the hospital, and deputies arrested and charged him with felony murder, hence the car accident attorney. The accident is under investigation and headed by the sheriff’s office Vehicular Crimes Division.
