Kilver had a passenger present in the car with him at the time of the accident. Police identified 51-year-old Jesse M. Pittman, also of Winchester.
Kilver died as a result of the injuries he sustained in the accident. Pitman was taken by Scott County EMS personnel to Passavant Hospital in Jackson, Illinois, for treatment of the injuries he suffered in the accident. The last report indicated that he sustained moderate injuries.
The police reports indicated that Kilver and Pittman were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident. There is not an initial cause for Kilver losing control of the vehicle. His body will be sent for autopsy to determine the cause of the accident, and a tox screen will be performed to determine if there was anything in his system to cause the accident.
The accident is currently still under investigation at this time. Updates on Pitman were not available at the time of publication. Updates will be provided as the Illinois State Police release them.
