Labrecque at about 8 a.m. April 14 was crossing Sixth Avenue at Veterans Boulevard, authorities said. At the same time, a pickup driver was attempting to turn onto Sixth Avenue from the parking lot of the nearby VA hospital.
The driver, whom authorities have not publicly identified, struck Labrecque while she was in the crosswalk, according to car accident reports. Information released thus far also does not specify whether he or she also was injured in the incident.
Labrecque was transported to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries, authorities said. Her wounds at the time were described by investigators as life-threatening.
The driver stayed at the scene of the crash and worked with investigators, authorities said. The driver was not intoxicated and speed doesn’t appear to be a factor, according to car accident reports.
Authorities have not yet filed criminal charges or citations as a result of the wreck, and it is unclear whether any further developments are expected.
