Authorities said a woman walking along a Lubbock highway suffered fatal injuries early Sunday morning when she was struck by a passing vehicle.
Sixty-eight-year-old Dorothy Nash was pronounced dead at the scene of the early-morning incident, which occurred on East Slaton Highway, the Lubbock Police Department reported. Investigators did not say Sunday whether additional injuries or fatalities have been attributed to the incident.

Car accident reports state Nash was walking in the 4500 block of East Slaton Highway at 2 a.m. Sunday when she was struck by an eastbound vehicle. Authorities have not released any identifying information about the vehicle or its driver.
Emergency medical personnel were called to the scene, but Nash succumbed to her wounds before she could be taken to a local trauma center for treatment, according to car accident reports. A press release does not state whether the driver required medical treatment after the incident.
Police so far have not released much information about the crash or the events preceding it. The driver remains unidentified publicly and it wasn’t clear Sunday afternoon whether factors like speed or intoxication might have played roles in the crash.
