The Dallas Police Department carried out an arrest on Wednesday, March 25, in connection to a pedestrian accident. The suspect, 28-year-old Marquis Dampeer, was taken into custody at the Dallas County Jail on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and fleeing from police.
The charges stem from the initial accident which occurred when Dampeer ran over a pedestrian in Seagoville. After the accident, Dampeer fled from the scene, and police attempted to pursue him.

Police continued chasing Dampeer into Dallas. The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, now within their jurisdiction, assisted in apprehending Dampeer. They were able to pull him over at Greenville Avenue and Forest Lane.
A woman was accompanying Dampeer throughout the chase. When he was finally detained, she took off on foot. Police have not apprehended her in conjunction with the case.
The victim’s identity in the first Seagoville accident has not been released. The severity of their injuries sustained is also unknown.
Police currently have Dampeer in custody at the Dallas County Jail under a $40,000 bond. They are currently seeking information on the woman who fled from the scene.
It is not clear if impairment was a factor in the accident, but police are currently still investigating. It is possible that before being arraigned, Dampeer will face more charges.
