The officers then requested for drones from the Riverside Air 1 helicopter to assist them in searching for the suspect. While on his trail, the police received a call from an unnamed resident who saw a man jumping a fence on Honey Grove Way. The latter is a residential neighborhood, west of the crash site.
Fountain said that the officers found Cole hiding under a cloth camper shell over the bed of a pickup truck. They arrested him on suspicion of damage-only-hit-and-run, evading arrest, and felony parole violation.
The police did not state what the man was on parole for, and he was later let out on bail. There is no information on the terms of the bond, and no additional update at this time. The authorities also advised residents to report car accidents and suspicious activities.
Under California law, a person involved in an accident should remain at the scene and cooperate with the investigators. The person should provide his or her details, and give an honest account of the events that led to the crash.
