The Division for Occupational Safety and Health of California is currently investigating the accident.
Trimming trees is considered a dangerous job. Tree trimmers face hazards every time they execute their skills.
Some of the more common accidents that these workers face are electrocution, falling from their post, and blunt force trauma from falling limbs. OSHA will investigate the accident by examining not only the company that Avalos worked for, but the working conditions their employees are forced to work under.
If OSHA finds that the business is negligent, they will issue citations as well as fees. If the company does not rectify the issues, it could be closed.
An autopsy will have to be conducted to find out precisely what caused Avalos’ death. The coroner will be able to determine if it was his body or his equipment that came in contact with the wires.
The emergency personnel that arrived at the scene with police were identified as the San Ramon Valley Fire Department. They tried to revive Avalos at the scene of the accident but were not successful.
Avalos was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation into the accident is currently ongoing under the supervision of the Department of Occupational Safety and Health of California.
