BAKERSFIELD, CA – The California Highway Patrol say one person is dead and several others are hospitalized following a multi-vehicle collision in southwest Bakersfield on Sunday.
According to Bakersfield Now, the accident occurred at about 8:12 p.m. at the intersection of State Route 184 and Wilson Road.

The 78-year-old driver of a pickup truck failed to stop for oncoming traffic when attempting to turn left at the intersection.
An oncoming semi-truck then slammed into his vehicle before careening into the oncoming lane and striking a Chevy Suburban.
The 78-year-old man was not secured by a seat belt and was ejected from the pickup truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The three motorists in the Chevy were injured and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The semi-truck driver did not suffer any injuries requiring hospital treatment.
