Autopsy and toxicology reports have come back with answers regarding a February accident that took the lives of two L’Anse teenagers. The Baraga County Sheriff’s Office has released that the incident that occurred on February 17 was an accident based on new evidence.
The original story began when police received a call reporting a possible drunk driver. When they got to the area, they found three teenagers inside of a running car. All three of the vehicle’s occupants were 17-year-old high school students and friends.

The teens had drank a couple of beers the night before, and instead of driving under the influence, they decided to park the car and spend the night inside the car.
Police were able to pull Hunter Palon out of the vehicle and get her to the hospital where she spent several days in a coma.
The two boys, Dylan Roberts and Christopher Turpeinen, were pronounced dead at the scene. Their bodies were then sent for investigation to find out the cause of death.
It was announced that the two teenagers died from carbon monoxide poisoning. Even though nothing was blocking the tailpipe of the car, the odorless gas had seeped into the car.
After a few days in a coma, the GoFundMe account for Palon indicated she might not make it. She had a miraculous recovery and was able to go home shortly after where she has been recuperating since.
At present, her current injuries that she is dealing with from the carbon monoxide poisoning she sustained are blood clots in her lungs, deep brain tissue damage, nerve damage, and even heart damage.
