The services of a drunk driving attorney may be needed after police deputies arrested a 20-year-old man, Nicholas Baker, on April 26. The suspect was apprehended in connection with a fatal accident that occurred on Calle Real at Violet Lane in Encanto, Goleta, California. A bicyclist was killed as a result of the crash.
According to Captain Daniel Bertucelli of Santa Barbara County Fire Department, the victim of the crash, who was reportedly a female, died at the scene. The accident occurred a few minutes before 10 p.m.

The vehicle that reportedly hit the deceased was a dark-colored SUV. Reports from the emergency radio traffic from the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department revealed that it was seen heading east on Calle Real Road toward Glen Anne Road.
Following the suspected SUV’s fluid trail, Sheriff Deputies were led into Isle Vista, where they found the vehicle. It was parked and abandoned in the 900 block of Camino del Sur.
The spokeswoman for the sheriff’s department, Raquel Zick, said that the suspect left the scene of the accident before deputies arrived and didn’t call for assistance, nor render any help to the victim.
Deputies arrested Nicholas Baker on suspicion of hit-and-run causing injury or death, involuntary vehicular manslaughter, and driving under the influence and causing injury. The suspect, who requires a drunk driving attorney, was taken to the Main Jail, where he remains with a bail of $1 million.
Meanwhile, the name of the deceased victim of the crash remains unknown pending notification of the family.
