BELL, CA – A woman was seriously injured yesterday morning when the vehicle she was driving collided with a fire hydrant at an intersection in southeastern Bell, resulting in a geyser of water shooting hundreds of feet into the air.
CBS Los Angeles reports that the collision happened at the intersection of Florence Avenue and Wilcox Avenue at about 5:20 a.m. on Thursday, April 22.

Emergency responders took the 50-year-old victim to a hospital with unspecified injuries.
It took crews more than an hour to stop the gushing water, as overhead power lines prevented them from safely shutting off the hydrant.
