ESCONDIDO, CA – Two people were hospitalized yesterday when a suspected DUI driver slammed into a semi truck in what may have been a stolen vehicle.
According to ABC 10, the collision happened on northbound I-15 at about 4 a.m. yesterday morning, when a Ford Fusion collided with the rear end of a semi truck near Del Largo Boulevard. The Fusion became wedged under the semi’s trailer, trapping the 32-year-old driver and his 32-year-old passenger inside.

Emergency responders extricated both victims and transported them to Palomar Hospital with major injuries. Their identities are being withheld at this time.
The truck’s driver, described only as a 43-year-old man, was unhurt.
Police believe that the causing driver was intoxicated at the time of the collision.
