On January 25, 2020, a motorcyclist was killed around 12:10 AM. The accident occurred in the area of McDowell Road and 23rd Avenue. The accident involved the motorcyclist and another vehicle. The vehicle was driving Southbound on 23rd Avenue. The motorcyclist failed to stop for a light at McDowell Road. As a result, he ran into the side of the vehicle. The vehicle was an SUV, and upon impact, both the motorcycle and the SUV burst into flames. Unfortunately, the motorcyclist died at the scene. There were two passengers in the vehicle, but they do not have serious injuries and were able to be safely removed from the vehicle.
The name of the motorcyclist was not released at the time of the accident but has since been released as 23-year-old Spencer McBurney. It is believed, however, that impairment was not the cause of the accident.
