Police at about 4 p.m. Sunday were called to the 100 block of Massachusetts 28 in West Dennis to investigate a report of an injury crash, car accident reports state. Authorities said first responders found Chmielewski laying in the street near a crashed motorcycle.
The Dennis Fire Department dispatched emergency medical services officials to the scene, but Chmielewski died at the scene before he could be taken to an area hospital for treatment, police said in a press release issued earlier this week.
Police said a pickup truck also was involved in the crash. The driver of the truck, whom authorities did not name in the press release, was not hurt in the wreck, and remained on scene until investigators arrived.
Police have released few details about led to the crash or whether they have attributed fault to either driver. Car accident reports available Tuesday also do not say whether factors like speed or intoxication might have led to the collision.
Investigators have not announced any charges or citations that have been issued as a result of the crash.
Multiple agencies, including the Dennis Police Department, the Cape Cod Regional Crash Reconstruction Team and the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Department’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation, continue to investigate the incident.
