Authorities have identified the Maryland motorcyclist who died Friday morning when he crashed into a turning vehicle in Washington’s Ivy City neighborhood.
Twenty-eight-year-old Charles L. Keeve, a resident of La Plata, Md., died in the crash, which was reported just after midnight Friday, the Washington, D.C., Police Department reported. No other injuries linked to the incident were listed on car accident reports available Friday afternoon.

Keeve at about 12:15 a.m. Friday was driving on New York Avenue near Fairview Avenue, according to police. His motorcycle ultimately collided with another vehicle, the driver of which was turning off New York Avenue onto Fairview Avenue, car accident reports state.
Keeve was pronounced dead from his injuries at the scene of the wreck by medical services personnel, authorities said. The other driver, whose name was not included in initial car accident reports, did not report any injuries as a result of the wreck.
The D.C. Police Department continues to investigate the incident. No citations or charges have been announced, and authorities did not say whether they suspect intoxication was a contributing factor. However, police did say they believe Keeve was speeding just prior to the crash.
Keeve’s family and friends flooded his Facebook page with tributes after his death was announced.
“Love you boy. We just talked last week,” one friend wrote. “So glad we told each other as black men that we loved each other as we got off the phone.”
