The victims were identified by friends as Donald Armstead and Bryan Story.
Police officers said they received a call just before 10:45 p.m. concerning a pedestrian-involved crash.
When they responded, they found two people in the parking lot. One was in critical condition while the other one suffered injuries that were not life-threatening.
Armstead and Story received medical treatment at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center.
Killeen police officers said they were told that a vehicle jumped a curb to the parking lot and hit the two men.
It’s possible the vehicle was an SUV but this is not certain.
Shirlene and LeeAnna Salazar said they knew Armstead and Story.
LeeAnna reported that Story was being treated in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit while Armstead had to get surgery on his shoulder. She said he also suffered a broken collar bone and had to get staples in his head.
LeeAnna stressed that she wanted to driver who hit the duo to be brought to justice, noting that Story may not survive.
The police department’s traffic unit will continue to investigate the accident. If the driver is apprehended, details could be published in updated accident reports.
Armstead and Story, like other car accident victims, can reach out to a car accident lawyer in Texas for representation. They may be able to recover a range of damages.
